The Davidson Show, which started as a committee of the Union Board under the direction of committee chair Austin Bell, was recently featured in a piece by the New York Times. "I Love Commons" was shot by Bell while Stephen Curry was a student and was an instant hit at the regular Monday night screening of The Davidson Show in the 900 Room.
The 2014-15 C. Shaw and Nancy K. Smith Artist Series kicks off Sept. 26 with a performance by contemporary dance group Keigwin+Company. It is the first of six performances selected by a committee of students to share diverse cultures and performance genres with members of the college and greater community. And for this season, students wanted to shake things up a bit.
What do Japanese drummers, a comedy troupe, Afrobeat musicians, and giant marionettes have in common? Well, not much. And that's the point. The diverse group of acts represents a few of the artists coming to Davidson as part of the 2013-14 C. Shaw and Nancy K. Smith Artist Series. An annual tradition more than 60 years running, the entirely student-led program brings to Davidson artists to perform and work with students in short residency programs.
